I had the pleasure of working on the music video for Superglue, Coro Benavent’s latest release. It was one of those projects where everything just came together perfectly.
From start to finish, the cast and crew brought such great energy and focus. Day 1 was all about the flat scene, where we had to create two different time periods in the same space. Having a strong production design and lighting team made a huge difference here. As a Cinematographer, there are always a million things to think about, so being able to trust the team to flip the set while the director, talent, and I shot another scene saved a lot of time and made my life much easier.
Day 2 was spent on our exterior locations with the dancers and a Steadicam operator. We chose this approach to get a smooth, flowing movement that contrasted nicely with the more handheld, personal feel of the scenes with the actors. The two styles came together on the rooftop sequence which was the real make-or-break moment for the look of the video.
We wanted a sunset on a rooftop (a risky ask in Britain), but mother nature pulled through and gave us something truly special. The shots we captured up there are some of my favourites I’ve ever been part of.
None of this would’ve been possible without such a talented and dedicated team, a director who believed in their vision, and the right budget to support what’s ultimately a marketing piece. It all came together to create something I’m really proud of and it’s now the most-viewed video on Coro’s channel.
